4th of July Weekend

Finally getting this posted...

Another 4th of July in Grand Lake.

We did a few different things this time. We had fun like always but the weather was not perfect summer weather. It was cooler and quite a bit rainer. That seems to have been the norm for this spring and summer. (It sure beats hot and dry.)

Here I forced the kiddos out of the car to take a picture on Trailridge Road. We needed proof that they were there. We only drive over it at least a dozen times a year. Usually someone is asleep and since no one was I took advantage of the opportunity. Don't they look thrilled! Hey your on top of the world enjoy it.

Mom signed the kids up to "Take a step back into history" at the Holzworth homestead dude ranch. It was fun. The got to dress-up as ranch hands and learned about all the chores the kids would of had back in 1920's. Like doing wash, milk the cow, sewing on buttons, making biscuits, cutting wood, and hauling ice blocks. Then they got to play a few games.

I think they enjoyed the experience.

Alayna using the washboard.

Coltin ringing clothes through.

Everitt helping saw a log.

Coltin in a gunnie-sack race.

Everitt loved the rubber-band gun.

We attended the Granby parade and picnic on the 4th. I don't think I had been to it since I actually marched in it with my high school band. (oh the memories)

"Hope we get lots of candy!"
"Yum yum"

We watched a very cold fireworks show this year in Grand Lake. But we were glad it stopped raining so we could actually go into town for all the fun. We love summers in the mountains!

Baseball Boys

Yep the boys are in baseball, for the first time, this summer. Well T-ball for Everitt and Coach Pitch for Coltin. Both boys are doing excellent and totally loving it. They have about 4 practices and 8 games. Both have impressed us as they hit and throw real well. Corbin is becoming a big fan. Says ba-ball all the time and tries to mimic them with the mit, ball, and bat. I gotta get pic of him sometime.

Coltin's team is the Purple Dragons

Catcher- he likes this position

Everitt's team is the Bobcats - green

Hair Tragedy

Here are the much awaited photos...

After -we tried to get it fixed

For those who didn't hear the story Alayna got a haircut by her brother Everitt! He was just helping her get her hair out of her face/eyes. So now she has bangs, a lot of short bangs. I know it could have been worse but it still is very upsetting! Yes I cried, and pouted. Alayna told me "it's ok, I'll eat dinner and my hair will grow." Oh if only it were so. Well we tried to have it fixed the lady cut real short "baby bangs". What you can't see to well from the picture is the goofy spiky (buzzed) hair right in the front center. It is really just going to take time for her hair to grow out and to look better. I just hope we don't have to go through this again.

More June fun

Hiking in Grand Lake

Little Horse Lovers

Corbin just couldn't get enough of the horses or the boat.
He says both words very clearly and repeats himself over and over.

Well this particular boat ride dad took just Alayna, Corbin and I out and we had a unique and very exciting experience. We boated on Shadow Mtn. Lake and at one end there are about half a dozen islands. As we were trolling between islands we saw a bull moose just walking along right next to us. (That was cool) As we got ahead of him he turned and headed to the water's edge. I thought maybe he was going to just take a drink until he stepped in!! (That was even cooler.) It was very exciting to watch the moose swim across to another island. Wow! And I was lucky enough to have my camera, how often does that happen.

We had a fun afternoon with Melissa, Austin and Landon (who's taking our picture). So glad that they were able to hang out.

I guess it is becoming more obvious to me how much our baby is growing up. Especially when, at 21 months, we had to move him from the crib to a little bed. I thought we'd keep him in the crib till he was at least 2 1/2 years old since there's no baby to take over the crib. But not this little MONKEY. After climbing out of the pack'n play in Utah and his crib the last 2 days we decided to take it down. He's made the transition quite well. I just miss the safety and containment we had with a crib.

June Family Vacation

June 4th to the 8th we took a trip out to see Justin's family in Utah. We had a lot of fun and stayed busy. The guys went golfing and the rest of us went to Salem Lake to feed the ducks and geese, and let the kids run and play. We also bowled, hiked, went to the pool, played badmitten, volleyball and much more. It was a good trip.

The kids loved bowling so I guess we need to do it more!

Alayna and Savannah

Corbin copies his siblings and keeps me laugh.

Family hike Saturday morning up Payson Canyon to a fun little waterfall.

We also went to the open house at the new
Oquirrh Mountian Temple.
