End of October Fun

We went to a new pumpkin patch on the 21st. They had a neat farm and we had fun. One of my favorite things to do, and now my new favorite place! We found some tiny pumpkins and gourds, some really big ones and some really unique shaped ones.

Wed. the 26th we got hit with our first snow of the fall. Over 12 inches of heavy wet snow meant the kids got a  snow day and we got the pumpkins all carved and decorated. This year I decided to let the boys deal with all the messy guts! That I may just have to do again. We ended up with some fun jack-o-lanterns and some fun glued on  felt-faces.

Cub Scout Everitt

Tonight Everitt is officially a cub scout! Over the last few weeks he worked on earning his Bobcat Badge award. The tradition our pack has is to flip the scout over when this award is pinned on him. This way when he is right side up the badge is upside-down. He then has to do good deed to have it turned over the right way. We are looking forward to more scouting fun with Everitt.

Fall outing?? Feels more like winter!

For the up coming weekend (10/08) we planned to spend a nice fall Saturday at RMNP, watching the elk and viewing the colors. The weather was not as accommodating as we had hoped. We woak to grey drizzly skies and reports of snow in Estes Park. We thought about staying home and dong nothing but figured why not? Lets go!

It was kind of a magical winter world with all the colors of fall. I miss living in the mountains sometimes. We had fun, ate our picnic lunch in the van, watched & listened to the elk, tried not to get stuck in the muddy ditch, and Justin even did a little fly fishing along a very snowy river! So glad we made the trip.

I was hoping to get a good family portrait on this trip... We'll have to try again later.

Here we are at Bear Lake, elevation 9450. Not a very long trail to hike up from the parking lot. But in the slippery snow it was interesting. The kids basically slid their way back to the car. (not really sure why I included the elevation!)

That would be 3 wild turkeys! What a surprise, didn't realize they lived in the park.

Alayna's 6th Birthday

Alayna had a fun day with her friends Maycee, Annie, and Abby. She originally wanted a horse cake but this pony turned out too cute not to love. We had fun playing musical chairs, pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey and of course opening presents.

Alayna has really been loving Kindergarten, well honestly who doesn't? She has mastered many of the counting charts and is making progress in her reading. She is off to a great start. Being one of the tallest kids she is sometimes mistaken for a 1st grader. This is something she is pretty proud of. One of the latest games she and Corbin play is school, of course Alayna is the teacher. She has been so good at letting me 'play' with her hair. We have done some pretty cool things. I am so glad to have a girl! One that is up for anything with her brothers but enjoys dolls, dresses, and hair (ya know all the girly things.)
I will do our hair pictures in a separate post! =)

Everitt is 8

We had a 'buggie' time at Everitt's 8th birthday party. Here's the evidence...

Everitt's friends Andrew, Kaden, and Cooper came for the party. It was nice outside so the boys got to take their energy to the park.

We are so proud of Everitt. He is doing great in 2nd grade. Loves Science and Math, oh and of course PE.  What has really impressed me is his spelling. He does great at it and doesn't have to put in much effort, and even says he doesn't like it. =) Well school might not be his favorite thing but he does real well.  He is very excited for Basketball to start and to join Cub Scouts.  Things are going to get busier for him but it will be good.
