Hounds, Ropin', and Lil' cowboy

Our friends the Davis' got 2 tan and black hound dogs for coon hunting. OK they are not dogs yet they are only about 8 weeks old here when we got to play with them, in late Jan. Corbin was not too sure but the other kids loved playing with them, especially Everitt. He is ready to have is own.

Both look like they are howling.

Saturday 2/07 we went to the Events Center in Denver (NWSS) so the boys could compete once more. They both made it into the second round but were unable to rope the dummy and thus were eliminated. They did good and now realize why we keep encouraging them to practice!!!
Here is the youngest cowboy in our family. He was so cute in Everitt's hat, but it was hard to get a very good picture. He's say "sheese" for cheese now when ever we get the camera out.

My, you made a Big Mess!

OK, so here's what happened. We got home from church a little after noon, and everyone was hungry as usual. The older kids got a new Veggie Tales movie that they started watching before church but did not have time to finish. Well they remembered this and quickly became distracted watching the ending. Justin and I went to change and were talking and I kept hearing the sounds of a bag shaking and crackling. I figured it was the cereal, and Corbin was just playing with it (cause I've seen him do that before). I was right, but what I didn't know was that someone, probably me, forgot to seal the ziplock on it. Taking just enough time for me to put a shirt on and head to the kitchen was all Corbin needed to dump out almost half a bag of the Marshmallow Mates cereal all around him. The funny part was that as soon as he saw me he sat down and by the fist-full he started to shovel the cereal in his little mouth! I guess he was really really hungry. Well the damage was done so I grabbed the camera and captured the memory.

December Fun

Just wanted to post a few fun pictures from December. They never really fit into a group.

Corbin pointing to Jesus on an ornament.

Everitt went goose hunting with Justin and a friend and they brought home this malard duck. I guess the ducks were around more than the geese.

These two love coloring.

First Real Haircut

Our little girl finally got a real haircut! Over the years I've trimmed Alayna's hair a couple of times, but took off no more than an inch. Her hair has grown so long that it was about 2 inches from her waist. Definitely time for us to cut it, but I was still a bit sad to see almost 4 inches go. She has been fine with the whole thing, and it actually turned out good. Here's the before and after. Then we had fun curling it and doing a "photo shoot". I'm so happy to have Alayna to share the girlie stuff with.

Justin's New Hobby

Here's to 'Where the Red Fern Grows'

Coon hunting with Brady Davis and Dana, first time out (12/06/08) and they treed a 48.5 lb boar coon. Dogs are black and tan coon hounds.

And then we have David, Justin brother, visiting from BYU. They got him in touch with his primal instincts. (12/30/08 - sow about 40 lbs.)
