Baseball Summer

Once again this summer Coltin and Everitt are playing on the same team. The 'Bombers' is a 10 and under Rec. league. The boys have improved since last year and I think love it even more.  Both have done a lot of pitching, 2 of their main 4 pitchers. Coltin's other position has been catcher. He really likes it and does well. Better than our catcher last year! Everitt's other main position is short stop and he's done a pretty good job there.

Alayna got to play T-ball this summer and really enjoyed it. She can play pretty well, and actually pays attention to whats going on. (Those 4 and 5 yr olds really like playing in the dirt or with the bugs! Ya know.) They keep playing her at pitcher position cause she will go after the ball and throw it to 1st. (Not that the first basemen is able to catch it.) =)  We really enjoyed her enthusiasm to practice and get better as well as watching her learn the game. For their last game of the season they have a 'Big League Night' at the real stadium. Here they try to hit a coach pitched ball, about the 4th one she got a hold of it.

Poor Corbin, he only gets to watch a lot of baseball and  gets upset that he's not big enough to play and be on the field. He loves to organize everyone's gear or just drag it out. Is definitely excited when one of us will practice with him. He is so ready to join. 

Corbin dressed in all the catcher's gear, he really got attention with this decision. I think 3 other parents took his picture! Maybe he should have been the mascot! Say Cheese...

July 4th, Fun in Cedaredge

We spent a nice 3 day weekend at Mom and Dad's over the 4th. Justin was excited to try out the fishin', it has been too long since he's been on the river. So he got the boys up before the sun and they all headed to Ridgway to fish the Uncompahgre River. Not as good as Justin had hoped, but Coltin caught his first rainbow trout river fishing!  In the afternoon we visited Sweitzer Lake for a picnic and some swimming. That evening, we went took the younger two up to the Grand Mesa. Fished in a little lake, but the only thing biting there was the mosquitoes. Yea!  Justin had to try out this little creek nearby, and sure enough his "Give me 10 minutes." turned into 30 min. Where he and Corbin caught 8 fish (brookies and rainbows). Corbin was thrilled and just kept giggling, cheering, and helping dad! It was cute.  As always we enjoyed playing with the horses, feeding, and helping with the clean up chores (actually only the kids like to help, ya know scoop manure and clean the water trough.) On the 4th we took a drive over to Paonia for the Cherry Days Festival and enjoyed their parade and cherries!  Our evening fireworks show was put on by the town of Delta and it was a lot of fun. Other than the tired 3 yr old. :(  Whom might not make it on the next long trip as he definitely made the long drive longer!! Guess he is out of practice. All our kids, no matter the age, have been pretty good at sleeping some during our road trips. Corbin was not bad in the car, just talkative, loud and restless, I guess you could say 'annoyingly happy.'  Not fun when you are sitting in I-70 traffic. Oh well.
It was still fun to get away and enjoy time in the mountains and with my family.

 

 The coolest float in the parade: an excavator dressed up as a dinosaur holding a swing and live cave girl. They were moving the girl all over the place, it was very clever.

Primary Denver Temple Trip

We decided to join the Primary this year on their trip to the Denver Temple. It was a beautiful day and the tour the sisters gave the children was real nice. The kids were excited and being there with their friends made it special. I hope they remember it. 

June Summer Days of Fun

No one caught a thing but they had fun and when the event is at the lake, just down the street, how do you tell the kids no?  Next time maybe some worms would help!!

  Everitt is one of the teams top 3 pitchers, and Coltin just happens to be one of the others. Coltin is also trying out catcher position and seems to like it.

Our library had an around the world event with many countries represented. Our favorite was India. The woman actually does henna body painting at fairs and such and did a brief but amazing demonstration there. She also was letting the little girls get authentic with a 'Bindi'. Alayna looked so cute. 

Next we have... not so cute. Poor guy! Everitt took a baseball to the right eye socket right before their 2nd game of the season started. The kid he was warming up with threw the ball as the assistant coach, his dad, stared talking to Everitt. While he sat out for a few innings he was still able to get out there and play and even pitch. Tough guy.
